The chapter is grateful to Pike alumni in Houston and Dallas for hosting Career Advisory Sessions during the holiday break in January 2014. Dr. Marc Boom ’85, CEO of Houston’s Methodist Hospital System, invited Pikes studying medicine and kinesiology to tour Houston Methodist’s main Medical Center complex. After a working lunch with Brother Boom, the Pikes met with several hospital department heads as well as observed a surgical procedure in progress. Similarly in January in Dallas, six Pike attorneys helped lead a session on preparing for law school and what to expect from a career in the law. The alumni practitioners represented a cross section of large firm, small firm, judicial/appellate and federal prosecutorial perspectives. A hearty thanks to Van Beckwith ’84 for hosting the lunch roundtable at his firm’s offices, as well as participating alum brothers attorneys Lynn Collins ’85, Paul Heath ’81, Jim Jacks ’70, Jim Kingman ’05 (Theta Chapter) and John Rowlett ’83.
